Nyota ya Kiswahili Grade 6 is a comprehensive course book developed in line with the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and approved by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). It is designed to help learners acquire and strengthen Kiswahili language skills while nurturing values, attitudes, and competencies for effective communication.

The book covers all the strands of the Grade 6 Kiswahili syllabus, including kusikiliza na kuzungumza (listening and speaking), kusoma (reading), sarufi na msamiati (grammar and vocabulary), uandishi (writing), and mawasiliano (communication skills). Each strand is presented in well-structured units with clear explanations, relevant examples, and interactive activities that progressively build learners’ mastery of the language.

It provides a wide variety of tasks such as comprehension passages, vocabulary drills, grammar practice, guided writing, creative writing, oral drills, songs, and storytelling activities. These are designed to enhance learners’ fluency, accuracy, and creativity in Kiswahili both in academic and real-life situations.

The book follows CBC’s learner-centered approach, encouraging active participation, discovery, and collaboration. It also integrates project work, group discussions, and real-life communication tasks that strengthen learners’ confidence and problem-solving skills.
